 Task 7

(Introduction) Graffiti has long been a subject of debate, with conflicting opinions on whether it should be considered art or vandalism. Taking into account the arguments presented in Task 5, I have formed my stance on graffiti, recognizing both its artistic qualities and the concerns associated with its unauthorized presence. In this expository writing, I will explain my position on graffiti by discussing its artistic expression, the need for permission, and the impact it has on public spaces.

(Argument 1) Graffiti as Artistic Expression

One cannot deny that graffiti serves as a canvas for artists to express their creativity and voices.

(Argument 2) The Importance of Permission

While graffiti can be viewed as a form of artistic expression, it is essential to address the issue of permission. When graffiti is carried out without the property owner's consent, it infringes upon their rights and becomes an act of vandalism.

(Argument 3) Impact on Public Spaces

Considering the second writer's perspective in Task 5, graffiti can be seen as an indication of societal breakdown when it appears without restraint.

(Conclusion)

In conclusion, my stance on graffiti is that it can be a form of artistic expression, but it should always be executed with permission and consideration for property rights. Graffiti has the power to bring vibrancy and diversity to our environment, challenging the status quo and offering new perspectives. However, its unauthorized presence can infringe upon the rights of property owners and create a sense of disorder in public spaces. By promoting dialogue, collaboration, and responsible artistic practices, we can strike a balance that allows graffiti to flourish as a legitimate art form while respecting the boundaries of personal and public property.
